Top 5 reasons for choosing reusable nappies

It’s that time of year where most of us look to set some sort of New Year resolution. Instead of the usual ‘eat healthier’ or ‘take up a new hobby’, we thought we’d give you something a little different. Here are 5 reasons why you should try reusable nappies instead of disposable nappies for your baby! Even just trying 1 reusable nappy per day can save up to 1000 disposables from landfill!

1. They are easy

Cloth nappies are really easy to use, fact! TotsBots nappies are shaped for your convenience meaning they go on just like a disposable does. No fiddly folds or pins are needed. Gone are the days of soaking them in a bucket of Napisan too, all you need is a washing machine and one of our Laundry Kits and you’ll be surprised at just how little ‘work’ they are. Just load the machine, put in your washing powder and hey presto! It’s a resolution that is easier than giving up chocolate, that’s for sure!

2. They perform well

Ever heard horror stories of poo exploding right up your baby’s back? Well that doesn’t happen with TotsBots cloth nappies thanks to the robust (but super soft) back-waist elastic. Our reusable nappies will beat a flimsy paper disposable any day and it means you won’t ruin your favourite baby outfits with a nice shade of yellow/brown baby poop! Cloth nappies really do work!

3. They are better for baby’s skin

So, by now you might have guessed that reusable nappies have a few benefits for parents, but they are better for your baby’s skin too. This is important - after all they will be wearing them every single day for approximately 2 years or more.  Have you ever wondered what ingredients are in a disposable nappy? Our Bamboozle Stretch nappies are Oeko-tex certified meaning that there are no harmful chemicals next to baby’s delicate skin, so you can be safe in the know of what you’re putting next to your baby’s bum. No VOC’s, Dioxins, Tributyl Tin, Sodium Polyacrylate (or guilty conscious) in sight.

4. They help reduce landfill waste

Reducing landfill waste is something that councils across the UK are actively encouraging. Each baby will send around 4,000 disposable nappies to landfill. Not only will your local council give you a high 5, but you’ll find that you don’t have as much household waste when you opt to use reusable nappies - ideal for reduced bin collections. In a world of dwindling, finite resources and landfill sites reaching capacity, we can all do our bit to reduce the use of single-use products.

5. They save you money

Aside from the huge amount of waste being sent to landfill, parents in the UK are spending upwards of half a billion pounds every year on disposable nappies – literally just throwing money away. It’s easy to free up some disposable income by using TotsBots cloth nappies as you’ll save up to £750 per child. Just think of what you could put that towards. Extra family days out, a holiday fund? Better in your pocket than rotting in landfill! It’s worth checking out your local council to see if they have a cloth nappy voucher scheme in place which can help you invest in your reusable nappy kit.
