Which TotsBots nappy is for you?

Here at TotsBots we have two different nappy systems, we have the All-in-One system and the Two-Part system. Some people choose one system and stick with that, some pick and mix, it is entirely up to you.

What is an All-in-One?Easy_fruit_crop-200

Easy! The nappy is all together. As per the photo on the right showing our All-in-One design. No separate waterproof wrap and the booster is attached. You don’t have to search for extra bits and build the nappy before you put it on. Believe us when we tell you this really comes into play with those wriggly little nappy changes.  All you need to do is add a liner and a baby. Easy on….. Easy off…..You’ve got it ….Easyfit! The Easyfit has a little brother, the Teenyfit for those extra tiny precious bundles.

What makes up a Two-Part system?Nappy&wrap_469

As per the photo on the left you have two pieces,  the nappy which is the absorbent part and made from bamboo or microfibre depending on the design, and the waterproof wrap (shown behind) which is worn over the top to keep wetness in. Again you need to use a liner inside the nappy.  The Stretchy Bamboozle and The Flexitot are our two part nappies.

B2P poppersBirth to Potty – How can one nappy fit from a newborn to toddler?

Simple, poppers on the front enable you to reduce the rise of the nappy which in turn reduces the leg opening so that the nappies will fit most babies from 9lbs to potty training. The average waist measurement of a newborn is on average 40 cm, this only increases to around 55cm by the time potty training comes around. The waist fastenings on our nappies will accommodate this no problem. It is important that you do acknowledge that B2P nappies are a one size fits most, not a one size fits all. B2P nappies can sometimes be a compromise, fine for most and will work perfectly well but with babies at the opposite ends of the centile charts there can sometimes be fitting issues, particularly long skinny babies. This is not a fault and is why we offer smaller nappies in the range i.e the Teenyfit, the size Stretchy and the size 1 Flexitot.

Which nappy system is best?

Hmmm that depends on who you ask and what time of day you ask them. The Easyfit is our most popular nappy. It is so easy to use and dries really quickly making laundry a breeze. However, for out and out performance our two part systems are very hard to beat. Why? You have two barriers of defence against leaks. So, should anything escape from the nappy, it will be caught by the wrap. This is especially beneficial when nappies are being worn for long periods of time or on heavy wetters. What we see is a large proportion of our customers buy a Birth-to-Potty kit of Easyfits and add in a few Stretchies or Flexitots (and wraps) for night-time use.

How do customers pick between the Bamboozle Stretch and the Flexitot?

For those who love the natural all over softness of bamboo the Stretchy is a firm favourite. It could be said that the Stretchy wins in terms of eco friendliness because it has a higher bamboo content and this may be a winner for some parents. Flexitots really come into play for those who want the performance of a two piece but with a faster drying speed achieved by the clever fold out booster, again this gains points in terms of Eco credentials. The Flexitot does have a higher synthetic fabric content. The design has a soft absorbent bamboo interior and stay dry polyester waist tabs. A feature preferred by those who don’t like like the idea of whole nappy wetness next to baby.  A lot of the time it comes down to cuteness and the Stretchy wins hands down as it is so soft and squishable.

It is worth noting that Liners can also be used with all our nappies to keep your baby’s bottom dry, protect the nappy from staining,  and most importantly makes poo disposal easy. At TotsBots we don’t like having to take the whole nappy to the loo and shake off the poo,  this is why we don’t do a nappy with attached stay dry liner. As we said, we like things to be easy, so in our opinion, removeable liners are best.
